Department of Pathological Analyses at the College of Applied Sciences Discusses a Master’s Thesis on the Evaluation of Serum Leptin and Ghrelin Levels
The Department of Pathological Analyses at the College of Applied Sciences, the University of Samarra, discussed a master’s thesis entitled:
“Evaluation of Serum Leptin and Ghrelin Levels in Patients Infected with Entamoeba histolytica in Samarra City,”
submitted by the student Huda Hadi Ahmed.
The thesis aimed to investigate the prevalence of Entamoeba histolytica infection and to evaluate its impact on selected immune biomarkers, including Th1 and Th2 cytokines, tissue repair factors, as well as metabolic hormones such as leptin, ghrelin, and adiponectin.
The study concluded that patients infected with Entamoeba histolytica exhibited a significant increase in the levels of cytokines associated with T helper type 1 (Th1) immune responses compared with the control group.
