Human Rights Unit Organizes Workshop on Applied Research and Its Role in Serving Society
The Human Rights Unit at the College of Applied Sciences, University of Samarra, organized a workshop entitled “Applied Research and Its Role in Meeting Community Needs,” presented by Assistant Lecturer Omar Mohammed Hameed.
The workshop addressed the importance of applied research and its effective role in tackling real-life issues faced by society. It also highlighted the role of academic institutions in directing research efforts toward supporting development.
Mr. Hameed aimed to introduce the concept of applied research and emphasize its significance in solving societal problems. He also underscored the role of academic and research institutions in guiding studies toward priority issues, in addition to explaining the relationship between applied scientific research and sustainable development.
At the conclusion of the workshop, several recommendations were presented, most notably: supporting and funding practical research that addresses real societal challenges, and encouraging universities and research centers to direct students’ projects toward community-related issues.
