Research Team from the College of Applied Sciences Publishes a Scientific Paper Indexed in Scopus

A research team from the Department of Computer Science at the College of Applied Sciences, University of Samarra, has published a joint scientific paper indexed in Scopus entitled:

“An Automated Climate Control System for Greenhouses to Monitor Agricultural Productivity Using Internet of Things (IoT) Technologies”

The paper was published in the Mesopotamian Journal of Computer Science (MJCSC), which is ranked in the first quartile (Q1) of Scopus-indexed journals.

The researchers aimed to enhance agricultural productivity and improve resource management efficiency through real-time monitoring and control of temperature, soil moisture, and light intensity using the Blynk platform. The study also focused on designing and developing an intelligent automated system to control greenhouse climatic conditions based on Internet of Things (IoT) technologies.

The results demonstrated the clear superiority of the smart greenhouse in several growth and agricultural productivity indicators, including the number of leaves, root nodules, leaf area, number of pods, fresh and dry plant weight, and plant height. The system also contributed to improving productivity and reducing resource waste, thereby supporting sustainable agriculture and enhancing food security.

The research team included Assistant Professor Dr. Wael Mohammed Mahdi, Assistant Professor Khalid Saeed Lateef, Lecturer Mohammed Ismail Lafta, Lecturer Ahmed Yaseen Mohammed, and Lecturer Omar Mohammed Dhayef.

This scientific achievement reflects the commitment of the faculty members of the College of Applied Sciences to advancing scientific research and publishing in reputable international journals, contributing to strengthening the academic standing of the University of Samarra at both local and international levels.
