A Faculty Member from the College of Administration and Economics Chairs a Master’s Thesis Defense at the University of Tikrit

Professor Dr. Nazhan Mohammed Al-Sahoo, a faculty member at the College of Administration and Economics, chaired the defense committee of a Master’s thesis at the College of Administration and Economics, Department of Finance and Banking Sciences, at the University of Tikrit on April 5, 2026, with the participation of a distinguished panel of academic scholars.

The thesis, entitled “The Impact of Central Bank Monetary Policy Instruments on Financing Iraq’s Foreign Trade,” examined the role of monetary policy tools in supporting exports and imports during the period (2015–2024). The findings revealed the existence of a long-term relationship between these instruments and foreign trade, with a more pronounced effect on imports. The results also indicated variations in the effectiveness of these tools, with the currency auction window and the rediscount rate emerging as the most influential.

The study recommended enhancing the efficiency of utilizing monetary policy instruments in a manner that contributes to market stability and supports foreign trade. It also emphasized the importance of directing monetary policy to mitigate fluctuations in imports and maintain economic balance.

This participation comes within the framework of promoting academic integration and the exchange of scientific expertise, thereby contributing to the advancement of research quality in Iraqi educational institutions.
