A masters thesis discussed in the Department of Quranic Sciences and Islamic Education on the role of the Prophetic Sunnah in social reform

A masters thesis entitled “The Role of the Prophetic Sunnah in Social Reform – An Objective Study” was discussed in the Department of Qur’anic Sciences and Islamic Education at the College of Education for Humanities, University of Samarra. The thesis was presented by the student Abbas Salim Majeed.

In his thesis, the researcher sought to demonstrate that the Prophetic Sunnah does not merely offer abstract theoretical concepts; rather, it presents practical and applicable models that can be employed across different times and circumstances. The researcher also adopted an inductive and analytical approach by examining the hadiths, verifying their authenticity, and analyzing their educational and social dimensions.

The findings of the study showed that the Prophetic methodology is characterized by comprehensiveness and practicality through linking spiritual reform with social organization. The study also revealed that Islamic brotherhood represents a practical commitment that includes mutual social and humanitarian responsibilities. Furthermore, it highlighted the significant role of the Prophetic Sunnah in eliminating tribalism and pre-Islamic tendencies, while reinforcing the values of piety and righteous deeds instead of pride in lineage and social status.
