The Iraqi newspapers Al-Dustour and Al-Zaman published an academic article by Dr. Omar Sajid Mukhlif, Head of the Department of History at the College of Education for Humanities, University of Samarra. The article reviewed the department’s academic journey and its scientific and intellectual role over a quarter century of continuous academic work.
The article outlined the establishment of the department in 2000 and its educational and research trajectory in preparing generations of students and researchers. To date, the department has graduated twenty-one cohorts of bachelor’s degree holders and has contributed to supporting educational, cultural, and media institutions with highly qualified academic personnel.
The article also addressed the development of postgraduate studies in the department, with the launch of the Master’s program in 2011 and the PhD program in 2015. This development consolidated the department’s status as a productive scholarly environment for rigorous historical research in the fields of Islamic, modern, and contemporary history.
On the administrative and organizational level, Dr. Mukhlif explained that the department’s leadership has rotated through ten successive administrations. He highlighted the department’s specialized academic staff, whose effective role has contributed to developing curricula, expanding research horizons, and strengthening academic supervision for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
