The Department of Arabic Language is discussing a PhD dissertation on the cultural references in the novels of Diaa Jubaili

The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Samarra, discussed a PhD dissertation by the researcher Noor Abdul Ghani Abdulrahman entitled: “Cultural References in the Novels of Diaa Jubaili.”

The study aimed to explain cultural references within the narrative text, analyzing their structure and role in shaping meaning within the narrative discourse, based on modern critical approaches to literary discourse analysis.

The researcher demonstrated that cultural references perform both structural and interpretive functions; they contribute to the formation of the narrative structure and support the production of meaning through their interaction with social and political contexts.

The findings also showed that the use of history in Diaa Jubaili’s novels has shifted from a documentary framework to symbolic representation, through the reconstruction of characters and events within a multi-layered narrative vision.

She further indicated that the narrative discourse reflects transformations in Iraqi reality by addressing themes such as wars and authority, within a narrative structure that relies on multiple cultural references.

In conclusion, the Media and Government Communication Division at the College of Education for Human Sciences extends its congratulations to the researcher, wishing her continued success and excellence in her academic career.
