The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences Organizes a Training Course on Modern Teaching Strategies

The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education for Humanities organized a training course entitled \”Modern Teaching Strategies: Exploring Active Learning and Cooperative Learning Methods in Classrooms.\”

The course was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Rafid Ali Hussein, who presented a session on the concept of modern teaching strategies and their significance in developing the educational process. He highlighted their role in making the learner the central focus of education and in enhancing students’ intellectual and cognitive abilities in line with the requirements of the contemporary educational environment.

Assistant Lecturer Moamen Ighlam Abdul Ghafour delivered a session on active learning, explaining its main characteristics, educational objectives, and mechanisms for implementation in classrooms. He also reviewed several active learning methods, including brainstorming, group discussion, problem-based learning, and discovery learning, emphasizing their impact on developing critical and creative thinking skills and increasing students’ engagement in the learning process.

Meanwhile, Assistant Lecturer Maha Nouri Naseef presented a session on cooperative learning, discussing the concept and objectives of this strategy, methods of organizing work within small groups, and its role in enhancing communication skills, teamwork, and the exchange of experiences among students. She also highlighted its positive impact on improving academic achievement and developing leadership and decision-making skills.

The course concluded with the lecturers emphasizing the importance of adopting active learning and cooperative learning approaches in educational institutions, as they provide a motivating learning environment that contributes to building students’ personalities and developing their academic and practical skills.
