The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences Promotes Drug Prevention Awareness Through an Educational Seminar

The Department of Educational and Psychological Sciences at the College of Education for Human Sciences organized an awareness seminar entitled “Psychological and Educational Awareness: A Shield Against Drugs” in conjunction with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, with the participation of several faculty members from the department.

The seminar featured three main themes. In the first session, Professor Dr. Rafid Ali Hussein discussed the dangers of drug abuse and its repercussions on community security and family stability, highlighting the social consequences resulting from its spread among different segments of society.

In the second session, Assistant Professor Dr. Rashid Ahmed Mohammed addressed the role of educational institutions in preventing drug abuse. He emphasized the importance of fostering awareness among students and activating educational programs aimed at protecting them from risky behaviors.

In the third session, Assistant Lecturer Moamen Aghlam Abdul Ghafour examined the psychological aspects associated with drug use, as well as mechanisms for building a balanced personality and strengthening young people\’s psychological resilience to cope with various pressures and challenges.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the speakers stressed that psychological and educational awareness represents the first line of defense against drug abuse. They emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among educational institutions, families, and relevant authorities to protect young people and build a more aware and stable society.
