The History Department at the College of Education for Humanities Launches an Environmental Awareness Campaign
The History Department at the College of Education for Humanities – University of Samarra – implemented an awareness campaign titled “The Environment: The Trust of Civilizations – An Awareness Campaign to Confront Pollution”, following the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education. The campaign aimed to raise students’ awareness of the importance of preserving the environment and to link it with historical lessons and human civilizations.
The campaign included the distribution of informative brochures highlighting the fundamental role of history in the development of other sciences, and emphasizing the interest of ancient civilizations in protecting the environment and conserving natural resources, reflecting their early awareness of the balance between humans and nature.
The organizers of the campaign pointed out that history provides models to learn from past experiences and enables a better understanding of the relationship between humans and their environment, contributing to addressing current and future environmental challenges.
The campaign was part of the department’s efforts to promote a culture of history, sustainability, and environmental responsibility among students, connecting historical knowledge with contemporary issues, while preserving both environmental and cultural heritage.
