The Media and Government Communication Division, in cooperation with the University Guidance Unit, implements an awareness campaign on media and extremism.

The Media and Government Communication Division at the College of Education for Human Sciences – University of Samarra implemented a joint awareness campaign with the College’s University Guidance Unit entitled “Media and Extremism: Between Incitement and Awareness.” The campaign included the preparation and distribution of brochures containing practical information on how to distinguish between accurate and misleading news, strategies for countering incitement, and an explanation of the impact of misleading trends in distorting public opinion and promoting intellectual and cultural extremism.

From a media perspective, the campaign highlighted media methods that contribute to raising awareness and explained how students can make positive use of media to enhance awareness and access reliable information, away from content that seeks to create intellectual chaos or exert a negative influence on the university community.

Meanwhile, the University Guidance Unit addressed the psychological and educational aspects of the campaign by providing support to students in dealing with intellectual and social pressures related to extremism, strengthening their self-awareness, and offering practical tools to help them make sound decisions and act wisely when facing external influences.

In conclusion, the organizers emphasized that cooperation between media and psychological dimensions represents a fundamental pillar in building comprehensive academic and social awareness, enhancing the ability of the university community to confront extremism and protect the educational environment, in line with the ministerial directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research regarding the handling of such issues.
