A Faculty Member in the Department of Chemistry Publishes a Scientific Paper in the Journal of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry Research
Assistant Professor Dr. Moamen Fareed Hamad, a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences – University of Samarra, has published a scientific paper in the Journal of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry Research, which is indexed in Scopus within the third quartile (Q3).
The study is entitled:
“Solid Phase Extraction and LC-MS/MS for Azithromycin Monitoring in Wastewater Post COVID-19 Crisis”.
The research aimed to develop and apply an analytical and bioanalytical method based on Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) and Liquid Chromatography–Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for monitoring the antibiotic azithromycin in wastewater following the COVID-19 crisis.
The study focused on tracking residues of this drug in aquatic environments due to its importance in assessing pharmaceutical pollution and its potential impacts on public health and the environment.
The results highlighted the importance of employing advanced analytical techniques with high sensitivity and accuracy to detect low concentrations of pharmaceutical compounds, thereby supporting environmental studies and enhancing modern pharmaceutical monitoring systems.
