A faculty member in the Department of Physics publishes a scientific paper in AIP Conference Proceedings
Assistant Professor Dr. Saadoun Mutab Abdul Karim, a faculty member in the Department of Physics at the College of Education for Pure Sciences – University of Samarra, has published a scientific paper in the AIP Conference Proceedings, issued by AIP Publishing, which is indexed in Scopus (Q3).
The paper is entitled:
“Preparation and Study Characterization of Li₂O Nanoparticles Using Turmeric Extract for Medical Physics Applications and Antibacterial Activities.”
The study aimed to synthesize lithium oxide nanoparticles (Li₂O-NPs) using turmeric plant extract via a green synthesis method. The plant extract played a key role in reducing metal ions and stabilizing the nanoparticles, providing an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional methods.
The results demonstrated that the nanoparticles possess notable antimicrobial activity, showing clear inhibitory effects against Escherichia coli as well as the fungus Candida albicans. These findings indicate their potential for applications in medical physics and biophysics. The study also highlighted the role of plant extracts in enhancing nanoparticle properties and effectiveness, opening promising prospects for their use in modern medical and technological
fields.
