Samarra University launches activities of Sustainable Energy Week

The University of Samarra launched the activities of Sustainable Energy Week on Sunday, corresponding to April 26, 2026, according to the central plan and college programs, in implementation of the ministerial directives regarding Sustainable Energy Week, scheduled to hold its activities in April of each year in all Iraqi universities.

The university week’s activities began with central seminars organized in the halls of Al-Mu’tasim Hall at the university, attended by the university’s Vice Rectors for scientific and administrative affairs, along with college deans and their assistants, together with a large gathering of university professors, employees, and students.

The university witnessed seminars on renewable and alternative energy, and sustainable environment, delivered by specialized university professors in chemistry and life sciences, alongside engineering professors researching alternative energy, highlighting the academic role of the university faculty in the aspects of sustainable environment.

On another Hand, the first day included an extensive afforestation campaign in the university gardens and colleges, supervised by the assistants, with the participation of college deans and heads of academic departments, which reflects the university’s interest in expanding green spaces and environmental sustainability.

It is worth mentioning that the university’s activities will extend throughout the current week, including exhibitions and various extracurricular activities on sustainability and energy, in addition to scientific seminars and workshops concerned with the environment and sustainability.
