A female lecturer in the Department of Life Sciences publishes a scientific paper in AIP Conference Proceedings.
Assistant Professor Dr. Raghad Hazem Hamad, a lecturer in the Department of Life Sciences at the College of Education for Pure Sciences – University of Samarra, has published a scientific paper in AIP Conference Proceedings, which is indexed in Scopus and classified ضمن the fourth quartile (Q4).
Her research is titled: “Evaluation of Thyroid and Ovarian Tissue in Female Rats Treated with Metformin.”
In her study, the researcher aimed to investigate the histological effects of metformin and propylthiouracil on the thyroid gland and ovarian tissues.
The results of the study showed a significant decrease in the concentrations of hormones (TSH, T3, T4). This decrease is attributed to several factors, including the ability of metformin to modify the binding of thyroid hormone receptors, in addition to its role in increasing dopamine secretion or directly regulating the level of TSH.
