Department of Life Sciences Organizes a Scientific Seminar on Fungal and Bacterial Toxins and Their Risks to Human Health
The Department of Life Sciences at the College of Education for Pure Sciences – University of Samarra organized a scientific seminar entitled “Bacterial and Fungal Toxins and Their Risks to Human Health.” The seminar was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Narjis Ali Zaidan and Assistant Lecturer Esraa Abdulmunim Yassin, and targeted undergraduate students.
The presenters aimed to provide students with fundamental knowledge about the sources of these toxins, their modes of spread in food and the environment, in addition to highlighting the serious health risks they pose to humans and animals and the ways to prevent them.
For her part, Zaidan emphasized the great importance of such activities in enhancing students’ scientific awareness, particularly in understanding the mechanisms of toxic effects at the cellular level and mastering laboratory detection methods for toxic contaminants in various samples according to the latest health and research standards.
Yassin concluded the seminar with a set of recommendations, most notably preparing a promising generation of researchers and developing their scientific skills in ways that serve society and keep pace with modern developments in life sciences, as well as avoiding contaminated food.
