The Department of Physics Organizes a Training Course on Thin Film Preparation Using Laser Technology
The Department of Physics at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Samarra, organized a training course titled “Preparation of Thin Films Using Laser Technology”, presented by Assistant Professor Oras Abdulhadi Hussein.
The course aimed to provide participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for producing high-quality thin films using laser techniques.
The course included an introduction to thin films, their importance, and their wide applications in fields such as electronics, solar cells, and sensors. It also covered the principle of Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD), which operates by focusing a high-energy laser pulse onto a target material to generate a plasma plume that deposits onto a nearby substrate.
The lecturer reviewed the main components of the PLD system, explaining the effects of various parameters such as laser energy, number of pulses, type of ambient gas, substrate temperature, and the distance between the target and the substrate. She emphasized that controlling these factors is the key to obtaining films with precise and well-defined properties.
