Two Faculty Members from the Department of Physics Publish a Scientific Research with Springer Nature in India
Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Sharif Mohammed and Dr. Thaer Khalil Saleh, faculty members of the Department of Physics at the College of Education for Pure Sciences – University of Samarra, have published a scientific research paper with Springer Nature publishing house in India, indexed in Scopus and Clarivate, within the third quartile (Q3).
They presented their research entitled “Effect of Film Thickness on the Physical Properties of Cadmium Selenide Thin Films”, which aims to study the fabrication of cadmium selenide (CdSe) thin films using the thermal evaporation method on glass substrates with different thicknesses (200, 218, 225, and 254 nm) at room temperature (300 K).
The study relied on a set of advanced techniques to characterize the thin films, including X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), in addition to investigating the optical absorption behavior of the thin films. A decrease in absorption with increasing wavelength was observed, along with the absorption coefficient and energy band gap, confirming the suitability of these films for future optical and electronic applications.
The results indicated that this study contributes to enhancing the understanding of the structural and optical properties of cadmium selenide thin films, particularly by opening new horizons for their use in advanced technological applications.
