College of Engineering Organizes Specialized Course on Cybersecurity for Women

The Women’s Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering, University of Samarra, organized a specialized training course titled “Cybersecurity for Women.” The course was presented by Dr. Oras Fadhil Khalaf, Head of the Electromechanical Engineering Department.

The presenter focused on providing the necessary guidelines to enhance the level of personal and family protection for the female staff and students in the cyberspace.

The course included an integrated set of topics that address the challenges of women’s daily use of technology, with particular attention paid to raising awareness about the risks of hacking, digital extortion, and recurrent targeting methods.

In a related context, the lecturer offered practical guidance on the importance of creating strong passwords and enabling two-factor authentication (2FA).

Furthermore, participants were equipped with mechanisms for secure handling of personal and family data on smart devices and communication platforms.

The course concluded by clarifying how to distinguish between safe links and malware to ensure the safety of online interaction.

It is noteworthy that these activities are part of the College’s strategy to support women academically and professionally, and to promote cybersecurity as an essential component of general culture and individual safety within the university community.
