Engineering Faculty Member Publishes Research on the Impact of Excluded Risks on Construction Projects in Samarra Journal for Engineering Research and Sciences
Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Hadi Mahmoud, a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Samarra, has published a joint scientific research paper with a group of researchers from the College of Engineering in the Samarra Journal for Engineering Research and Sciences (SJERS).
The research, titled “Evaluation of the Impact of Excluded Risks on the Cost and Time of Construction Projects in Samarra City Using the Relative Importance Index (RII),” examines how risks excluded from contracts affect the overall cost and execution duration of construction projects within Samarra.
Methodology and Findings
The field study relied on analyzing responses from 49 specialized engineers using the Relative Importance Index (RII). The results revealed that security risks associated with war conditions and instability had the highest impact, while other risks, such as partial occupancy and design constraints, were ranked with lower importance.
The paper concluded by emphasizing the need to adopt proactive contractual procedures and innovative local frameworks for risk management in unstable environments. This ensures the mitigation of cost overruns and reduces execution delays.
In this regard, the Deanship of the College of Engineering—represented by its Dean, Assistant Professor Dr. Amjed Saleh Mahmood —congratulates Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Hadi Mahmoud on this distinguished scientific achievement. The Deanship reaffirms its continuous support for faculty members in their efforts to enrich the research movement with realistic studies that address the needs of the engineering sector, wishing him continued success in his scientific and academic career.
