Human Value is Priceless.. A Workshop at the College of Engineering Calls for Community Solidarity Against Suicide

The University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Engineering, University of Samarra, organized an awareness workshop titled “Spreading Community Awareness on the Dangers of Suicide and Methods of Prevention,” presented by Assistant Lecturer Sarah Adnan Saeed, a faculty member in the Department of Civil Engineering.
The workshop presenter highlighted the phenomenon of suicide as one of the most serious contemporary psychological issues, emphasizing that it is not a sudden decision but rather the result of deep psychological suffering and continuous pressures that lead an individual to lose hope.
At the same time, the lecturer explained the underlying causes of this behavior, which include psychological disorders such as depression and anxiety, in addition to life pressures represented by academic and economic challenges, feelings of isolation, or exposure to bullying.
In conclusion, the workshop stressed that prevention begins with strengthening family support and spreading a culture of mental health, as well as creating a safe environment for dialogue that encourages individuals to seek specialized help without shame, while emphasizing that human value is priceless and that every crisis can be overcome through community solidarity.
