Professor Dr. Muhammad Ismail Eleiwi Publishes a Joint Research Paper in the Field of Renewable Energy within Scopus and Clarivate Databases
Professor Dr. Muhammad Ismail Eleiwi, Associate Dean of the College of Engineering for Scientific Affairs, in cooperation with a research team from various Iraqi universities, has published a joint scientific research paper in the (Journal of Thermal Engineering), published by Yildiz Technical University in Turkey. The journal features a CiteScore of 2.8 and an Impact Factor of 1.4, and is classified within the third quartile (Q3) in both Scopus and Clarivate databases.
The research was published under the title:
\”Evaluating the thermal performance of PV panels: an ANSYS simulation of mixed convection\”
The research included a numerical study of the thermal performance of photovoltaic (PV) panels exposed to m convection at various external air flow velocities, utilizing the advanced simulation software (ANSYS Fluent).
The results demonstrated that increasing the external air velocity effectively contributed to lowering the temperature of the photovoltaic cells from 53.0°C to 38.8°C. This reduction positively impacted the improvement of electrical performance and increased the power output, as the air velocity of 5 m/s achieved a significant increase in relative power compared to the velocity of 1 m/s.
It is worth noting that this research represents a valuable scientific addition to the field of improving the thermal and electrical performance of photovoltaic panels. It contributes to supporting academic trends toward applied research in renewable energy and improving the efficiency of solar energy systems by controlling cell temperature, while emphasizing the importance of relying on numerical modeling and computer simulation in analyzing operational conditions close to practical reality.
In this regard, the Deanship of the College of Engineering, represented by the Dean, Assistant Professor Dr. Amjed Saleh Mahmood, congratulates the researcher on this outstanding scientific achievement, wishing him and the joint team continued success and prosperity in serving the scientific journey.
