The College of Engineering organizes a workshop for new civil engineering students
The College of Engineering at Samarra University organized a specialized workshop for first-year students in the Civil Engineering Department, entitled “Welcome to your university journey in Civil Engineering: The beginning of a bright future,” presented by Assistant Lecturer Sarah Adnan Saeed and Assistant Lecturer Israa Khalil Jassim.
The workshop presenters aimed to prepare the new students and introduce them to the true essence of the civil engineering profession; they explained that the civil engineer is not just a designer or a draftsman, but rather the cornerstone that shapes modern life and lays the foundation for construction and development.
At the same time, the two lectures emphasized that the great achievements of highways, suspension bridges, skyscrapers, and water and sewage networks are the product of a civil engineering mind that planned, innovated, supervised, and took responsibility.
On the other hand, the workshop highlighted the ethical and humanitarian aspect of the profession, as well as clarifying the role of the civil engineer in linking science with application to build a safe and sustainable environment.
In conclusion, the pivotal importance of the first university stage was highlighted, considering it not just as an academic foundation year, but as a real starting point for the student’s behavior and future ambition in this vital field.
