A Scholarly Publication Reflecting the Presence of Women Academics in Research and Authorship
A new scholarly publication has been released, reflecting the active presence of women academics in research and authorship, and adding to the body of Qur’anic studies and comparative religion through a rigorous and contemporary methodological vision.
Dr. Noor Al-Huda Rasheed Khalifa, a faculty member at the College of Islamic Sciences at University of Samarra, has co-authored an academic book entitled “The Scale of Revelation: A Qur’anic Reading of the History of Religions and the Unity of Religion,” in collaboration with researchers specializing in Qur’anic studies and comparative religion.
The book is the outcome of a joint academic effort and offers a profound methodological reading of how the Holy Qur’an presents the history of religions. It affirms that religion in its essence is one, and that monotheism constitutes the unifying foundation of all prophetic messages, while the diversity of legal systems (sharā’iʿ) reflects divine wisdom in testing humanity and guiding it progressively.
The authors begin with a central question: How should we understand the plurality of religions and legal systems in light of the Qur’an? Does historical diversity imply a difference in the of religion itself? Through its chapters, the book clarifies the distinction between religion as a divine and Sharia as a legislative elaboration connected to the conditions and circumstances of different communities. It also explores issues of prophethood and messengership, confirmation and supremacy, abrogation and gradualism, distortion and interpretation, and the معيار of salvation and guidance. Ultimately, the work emphasizes that the Holy Qur’an serves as the definitive scale by which claims are weighed and the historical trajectories of religions are understood—away from extremism or oversimplification.
