Assistant Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences Chairs a Master’s Thesis Defense on Rebellion in the Poetry of Al-Sharif Al-Radi

The Assistant Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Kamal Abdul-Fattah Hassan, chaired the committee for the defense of a Master’s thesis entitled “Rebellion in the Poetry of Al-Sharif Al-Radi.” The thesis was submitted within the postgraduate activities of the Department of Arabic Language by the student Wahb Ahmed Al-Wahb.

The thesis examined rebellion as both an artistic and intellectual phenomenon in the poetry of Al-Sharif Al-Radi, highlighting its psychological and social dimensions, as well as the poet’s موقف toward authority and reality. It also analyzed the stylistic structures that embodied this sense of rebellion within his poetic texts.

The poetry of Al-Sharif Al-Radi is considered one of the most prominent examples of Arabic poetry in the Abbasid era, due to its profound intellectual content and diverse humanistic perspectives.

The defense committee consisted of a number of professors specializing in Arabic literature, and the discussion was extensive and academically rigorous, demonstrating the research effort exerted by the student and the thesis’s contribution to enriching critical studies related to Abbasid poetry.

At the conclusion of the defense, the committee praised the scientific value of the thesis, commending its originality and methodology, and emphasizing the importance of the topic in revealing the intellectual and artistic dimensions of Al-Sharif Al-Radi’s poetry, given its richness within the Arabic poetic tradition.
