College of Islamic Sciences Organizes a Scientific Course on Contemporary Intellectual Challenges and Their Impact on Students’ Creed

Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Islamic Sciences, the College at University of Samarra organized a scientific course entitled “Contemporary Intellectual Challenges and Their Impact on Students’ Creed and Academic Performance.” The course was held the ongoing programs of the Department of Creed and Islamic Thought, aiming to enhance intellectual and educational awareness among university students.

The course sought to shed light on the most prominent intellectual challenges facing students amid media openness and rapid technological advancement, and the accompanying ideas and concepts that may influence students’ doctrinal and behavioral formation, as well as their academic achievement and performance.

The course covered several key themes, including: clarifying the concept of contemporary intellectual challenges and the reasons for their spread; examining the impact of social media on shaping students’ awareness; exploring the relationship between sound creed, psychological stability, and academic achievement; highlighting the role of educational institutions and families in safeguarding students’ intellectual development; and presenting practical mechanisms for promoting critical thinking grounded in Islamic values.

The lecturers emphasized that a firmly established creed represents a fundamental pillar in building the personality of the university student, and that intellectual stability contributes to greater concentration and academic discipline, thereby positively reflecting on academic performance.

The course witnessed notable student engagement, with numerous questions and interventions that reflected awareness of the importance of the topic and a commitment to discussing intellectual issues in a rigorous academic spirit.

At the conclusion of the course, the organizing committee recommended the continuation of such scientific activities, given their role in intellectually fortifying students, promoting moderation and balance, and linking doctrinal principles with academic and behavioral values.

This course comes as part of a series of scientific activities organized by the College of Islamic Sciences within its mission to prepare a conscious generation equipped with intellectual resilience and academic competence to serve society.
