Department of Creed and Islamic Thought Organizes a Scientific Course on “The Faith Compass”
The Department of Creed and Islamic Thought at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Samarra, organized a scientific course entitled “The Faith Compass in Light of the Qur’an and Sunnah.”
The course was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Dr. Etemad Ismail Haim and Dr. Nihaya Shaker Yousif. It also hosted researcher and academic Warqaa Tariq Al-Darraji, a member of the Iraqi Family Advisory Council and a specialist in women’s issues and contemporary family matters from the perspective of Islamic jurisprudence.
The course revolved around fundamental existential and faith-based questions, most notably: Why did Allah create us? What is the true role of the human being in this life from a clear faith-based perspective? How can one organize a hierarchy of priorities according to religious creed—balancing worship, family, work, and self-development? How can time be managed in a way that brings divine blessing (barakah)? The concept of blessing and its impact on daily life was also examined.
Additionally, the course addressed the boundaries of freedom as defined by religion, within the framework of accountability and responsibility, and clarified the distinction between justice and equality in Islamic law, highlighting the consequences of conflating the two concepts.
The course aimed to strengthen students’ faith awareness and provide a structured doctrinal framework that guides their intellectual orientation and daily life decisions in accordance with Qur’anic and Prophetic principles.
