Department of Financial and Islamic Banking Sciences Organizes a Scientific Course on Surah An-Nur
The Department of Financial and Islamic Banking Sciences at the College of Islamic Sciences, University of Samarra, organized a scientific course entitled “Surah An-Nur – Selected Verses: Interpretation and Rulings.” The course aimed to introduce Surah An-Nur and clarify its general objectives in building a Muslim society founded upon purity, chastity, and the protection of the family, while highlighting its major themes and its role in reinforcing moral values and Islamic ethics.
The course included the interpretation of a number of selected verses from the Surah through explaining their vocabulary, reasons for revelation, and both general and analytical exegesis. It also focused on deriving educational and doctrinal lessons and guidance from these verses.
In addition, the course reviewed important jurisprudential rulings related to chastity, lowering the gaze, hijab, adornment, seeking permission, and family and social relations. It also presented the opinions of jurists, their evidences, and the preferred views where necessary.
The course emphasized the importance of linking Qur’anic interpretation with jurisprudential rulings and highlighted the Qur’an’s concern for protecting morality and safeguarding society, thereby contributing to strengthening religious awareness and consolidating Islamic values within the family and contemporary society.
