Faculty Member from the College of Islamic Sciences Participates with a Scientific Paper in the Sixth Scientific Conference of the University of Sulaymaniyah

Dr. Israa Ta’ma Ali participated in the proceedings of the Sixth Scientific Conference organized by the University of Sulaymaniyah by presenting a scientific paper entitled: “Ahmed ibn Omar ibn Al-Hasan Al-Kurdi (d. 591 AH): A Historical Study of Qur’anic Sciences and Tafsir in Baghdad.”

The study shed light on the personality of Imam Ahmed ibn Omar ibn Al-Hasan Al-Kurdi as one of the prominent scholars of the sixth century AH. It addressed his upbringing, scholarly journey, most notable teachers and students, as well as his scholarly status and contributions to serving the sciences of the Holy Qur’an and tafsir. The research also examined his methodology in dealing with the Qur’anic text and his impact on enriching the scholarly movement in Baghdad.

The paper also reviewed the scholarly environment that flourished in Baghdad and its role in embracing scholars and developing Islamic studies, emphasizing its status as a civilizational and scientific center that contributed to the formation of the Islamic school of tafsir.

The research concluded that Imam Ahmed Al-Kurdi was one of the influential scholarly figures of his era and made an active contribution to serving Qur’anic sciences and tafsir, reflecting the scholarly and civilizational status of Baghdad.

It also emphasized the importance of re-examining heritage scholarly figures and highlighting their efforts in order to benefit from them in contemporary academic studies.

This participation comes as part of the College of Islamic Sciences faculty members’ commitment to active presence in scientific conferences, contributing to highlighting Islamic scholarly heritage and strengthening academic research in the fields of Qur’anic and historical studies.
