**Joint Academic Contribution: Faculty Members from the College of Islamic Sciences Serve on a PhD Dissertation Defense Committee at the College of Education**
A PhD dissertation was defended at the College of Education, University of Samarra, entitled:
“Al-ʿInāyah: Sharḥ al-Wiqāyah by ʿAlī ibn ʿUmar al-Aswad (ʿAlāʾ al-Dīn al-Qarahisārī, d. 800 AH), from the Book of Hudūd to the Book of the Foundling – A Study, Critical Edition, and Commentary,”
submitted by researcher Omar Ibrahim Saleh.
The dissertation aimed to revive Islamic manuscripts across various disciplines, particularly Islamic jurisprudence, enrich Islamic libraries and publishing efforts with verified manuscript works, and respond to the need for learning Islamic law to clarify legal rulings.
The findings indicated that the author of al-Wiqāyah and its commentary is Ali ibn Umar al-Aswad, and that the author adheres to the Hanafi school of jurisprudence, with no reliance on Hanbali jurisprudential issues in the text.
The dissertation defense committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Anas Mahdi, with membership including Professor Dr. Basim Mohammed Saleh, Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Wisam al-Din Qawwam, Professor Dr. Ibtisam Issa, and Assistant Professor Dr. Ibrahim Bashir Mahdi, under the supervision of Professor Dr. Shifa Dhiab Ubaid.
This dissertation represents a significant contribution to the field of Islamic jurisprudence and manuscript studies, particularly in the critical editing of classical legal texts.
