In embodiment of the distinguished scholarly presence and the growing academic engagement of the College of Islamic Sciences at University of Samarra on the international stage, Lecturer Dr. Janan Shaker Ali, Rapporteur of Postgraduate Studies at the College, participated as a member of an international PhD dissertation defense committee for a Senegalese student, within the framework of academic cooperation and the exchange of research expertise among higher education institutions.
Her participation came during the defense of the dissertation entitled: “The Beliefs of Members of the Serer Tribe in Senegal and Their Influence by Man-Made Religions, and Islam’s toward Them – A Critical and Evaluative Study.” The study offered an in-depth academic analysis of the doctrinal and cultural structure of the tribal community, examining the historical and religious roots of local beliefs and subjecting them to systematic critical evaluation in light of the foundations of Islamic creed and its reformative objectives.
Dr. Janan enriched the defense session with rigorous scholarly interventions and precise methodological observations, reflecting her specialized expertise in creed studies and comparative religion. She emphasized the importance of integrating sound theological foundations with sociological understanding of cultural environments when addressing intellectual deviations and refining contemporary Islamic discourse.
This participation represents an extension of the College’s mission to support high-quality scientific research, strengthen its academic presence in international forums, and consolidate its position as an active scholarly center contributing to Islamic studies and their contemporary issues at both regional and global levels.
