Master’s Thesis on Media by Teaching Assistant Wissam Muneam Earns High “Very Good” Rating at Tikrit University
The thesis of Mr. Wissam Muneam Nassif, a teaching assistant in the Department of Media and Government Communication at the University of Samarra, titled “Tikrit University Students’ Reliance on News Pages on Social Media for Information About the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation – A Survey Study,” received a high “Very Good” rating after its defense in the Media Department at the College of Arts, Tikrit University.
In his thesis, Muneam aimed to shed light on the extent to which Tikrit University students depend on news pages on social media as a primary source of information regarding the Al-Aqsa Flood operation. The significance of this study stems from the event itself, which had a significant impact and elicited diverse reactions on local, regional, and international levels, making it a priority subject for research and analysis.
The study concluded that there is an inverse relationship between the number of students following news pages on social media and the time they spend doing so. The majority spend only a short amount of time following these pages, while a smaller portion dedicates longer periods to consuming news content. Specifically, 52.9% of the sample spend less than an hour following news pages, whereas only 6.1% spend more than five hours on such pages.
The Department of Media and Government Communication extends its congratulations to its teaching assistant, wishing him success and academic growth in the coming days.
