Samarra University Academician Publishes Chemistry Research in Scopus-Indexed Journal
Dr. Osama Ahmed Yassin, a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, University of Samarra, has published a scientific research paper in RSC Advances. This journal is published by the Royal Society of Chemistry in the United Kingdom and is ranked within the First Quartile (Q1) in the Scopus database.
The study titled \\\”Spectroscopic, Computational, and Biological Activity Studies of Divalent Metal Complexes of (E)-N\\\’-(4-(dimethylamino) benzylidene) isonicotinohydrazide\\\” aimed to synthesize, characterize, and evaluate a new ligand designated as (HL). This ligand was derived from the condensation reaction between 4-(dimethylamino) benzaldehyde and Isoniazid. Additionally, the research involved the preparation of several coordination complexes using divalent metal ions, specifically Zinc (Zn), Cadmium (Cd), and Platinum (Pt).
The results demonstrated that Coordination Behavior: The ligand (HL) acts as a bidentate ligand, coordinating with metal ions through the carbonyl oxygen atom and the azomethine nitrogen atom, Geometric Structures: * The Zinc and Cadmium complexes in compounds (1) and (2) exhibited a tetrahedral geometry, The Cadmium complex in compound (3) displayed an octahedral geometry And The Platinum complex in compound (4) adopted a square planar geometry.
The Department of Media and Government Communication at the University Rectorship congratulates the faculty member at the College of Education for Pure Sciences on his new research achievement, wishing him continued success in his academician and research career.
