Master’s Thesis at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences Examines the Effect of Tabata Exercises on Developing Biomotor Abilities and Fundamental Football Skills

A master’s thesis was discussed at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, University of Samarra, presented by the student Hussein Awwad Hamad, entitled:

“The Effect of Compound Exercises Using the Tabata Method (TABATA) on Developing Certain Biomotor Abilities and Fundamental Skills of Football Players.”

The study aimed to design compound exercises based on the Tabata training method and to identify their effect on developing biomotor abilities and fundamental football skills among players. In addition, the study sought to examine the differences between the outcomes of the experimental and control groups.

The researcher adopted the experimental approach using an equivalent-groups design. The research sample consisted of 24 football players from Al-Hawija Sports Club, who were randomly assigned to two groups: an experimental group and a control group, with 12 players in each group. The training program was implemented over eight weeks, comprising 24 training sessions.

The findings revealed that the compound exercises based on the Tabata method contributed positively to the development of certain biomotor abilities and fundamental football skills among football players. Furthermore, the experimental group that trained according to the Tabata method achieved superior results compared to the control group, confirming the effectiveness of Tabata training in enhancing players’ physical and technical performance.

The examination committee consisted of:

* Prof. Naktal Muzahim Khalil – Chairperson.
* Asst. Prof. Saif Ali Mohammed – Member.
* Asst. Prof. Saif Rashid Ghanim – Member.
* Prof. Tariq Dhayea Mohammed – Member and Supervisor.

At the conclusion of the defense, the committee commended the researcher’s efforts and the valuable findings and recommendations presented in the study, emphasizing their contribution to the advancement of modern football training methods. The committee also highlighted the importance of incorporating Tabata exercises into training programs due to their positive impact on developing biomotor abilities and fundamental football skills among players.
