University of Samarra adopts new policies to reduce paper and plastic on campus

The University of Samarra announced the implementation of a comprehensive program aimed at reducing the use of paper and plastic, through administrative measures such as double‑sided printing, reviewing data before printing, and relying on electronic systems instead of hard copies.
The university also carried out a “Reduce and Reuse Plastic Bags” campaign, which contributed to cutting down about 500,000 bags annually, equivalent to 60% of plastic waste on campus.

The university confirmed that these steps are part of its efforts to enhance environmental sustainability and reduce its carbon footprint, helping to create a more conscious and eco‑friendly academic environment.
