University of Samarra implements integrated policies to reduce water pollution and enhance sustainability

Samarra University has announced the implementation of a comprehensive program to control water pollution within the university campus, in line with the global sustainability standards of UI GreenMetric 2026.
The program aims to protect water resources, improve wastewater treatment systems, and prevent pollution resulting from laboratory, domestic, and operational activities.
The new policies include: periodic monitoring of water quality, preventing the discharge of untreated water, reducing hazardous liquid waste, and promoting recycling and treatment.
The university also relies on advanced treatment systems including microfiltration, domestic treatment units, and controlled drainage systems, while reusing treated water for irrigation and non-potable activities to reduce freshwater consumption.
