University of Samarra launches an integrated program for waste management and environmental sustainability
The University of Samarra has launched a comprehensive waste management program based on the principles of 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), in cooperation with the Samarra Municipality and the local recycling plant.
The program aims to sort waste, recycle recyclable materials, generate energy from non‑recyclable waste, and explore the possibility of producing organic fertilizers.
The university confirmed that the program includes recycling organic waste such as food leftovers, in addition to electronic waste that contains toxic substances and heavy metals, which are handled in safe and environmentally friendly ways.
In the same context, the university launched research initiatives on food waste, along with community awareness programs and student initiatives to promote environmental culture.
