University of Samarra launches projects for inorganic waste treatment and supports environmental awareness initiatives
The University of Samarra announced the development of advanced projects for inorganic waste treatment in cooperation with the Samarra Municipality and local companies, aiming to improve recycling processes and recover valuable precious metals and rare earth elements through low‑impact pilot projects.
The university also launched a special battery recycling project in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, designed to raise public awareness about the importance of collecting and recycling batteries.
In the same context, the university’s colleges organized scientific seminars such as one on pollutant removal using activated carbon, and training courses on paper and plastic recycling, which focused on spreading environmental awareness, explaining the benefits of recycling in reducing pollution, and protecting natural resources.
The university emphasized that these initiatives are part of its green programs to enhance environmental sustainability, reduce emissions, and instill the concept of environmental responsibility among students and the community, contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future for upcoming generations.
