University of Samarra launches waste management programs supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

The University of Samarra announced the implementation of a package of waste management programs that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reaffirming its commitment to reducing environmental impact, promoting the circular economy, and encouraging responsible consumption.

These programs include the application of comprehensive waste segregation systems across campus, operation of facilities to convert organic waste into fertilizer for landscaping and agriculture, and the establishment of recycling stations to process paper, plastics, metals, and electronics.

The university also organized e-waste collection campaigns, launched “Zero Waste” initiatives to encourage reduction, reuse, and recycling, and reduced single-use plastics by replacing them with reusable alternatives.
