The University of Samarra Highlights Intangible Heritage in a Joint Seminar with the Cultural House

The Department of Archaeology in the College of Arts at the University of Samarra organized an educational seminar on “Intangible Heritage” in cooperation with the Cultural House in Samarra. The seminar was presented by Professor Dr. Mahdi Abdul Hamid Hussein, Assistant Professor Dr. Rasha Abdul Wahhab Mahmoud, and Assistant Professor Mohammed Riyad Hamid.

The seminar aimed to introduce intangible heritage within the community, which is considered a significant part of popular and social heritage, including proverbs, songs, short stories, and folk tales.

The seminar covered various topics related to intangible heritage, particularly the social heritage of the city of Samarra, starting from ancient times and passing through successive eras.

It is noteworthy that the intangible, especially social, heritage of Samarra continues to resonate to this day, highlighting the importance of this heritage, which is as valuable as the city’s tangible heritage.
