The College of Archeology holds an online scientific symposium entitled (Arab and Islamic Antiquities in the Pergamon Museum – Berlin, the stained wood from Samarra city as a model)

 

Under the guidance of the President of the University of Samarra, Prof. Dr. Sabah Allawi Khalaf, and the direction of the Dean of the College of Archeology, Prof. Dr. Abed Barak Al-Ansari, the Islamic Archeology Department held an online scientific symposium by M. Muhammad Qasim Muhammad, an employee at the General Authority for Antiquities and Heritage, the symposium was entitled (Arab-Islamic antiquities in the Pergamon Museum – Berlin, colored wood from Samarra city, as a model), at 7:00 PM, the symposium was attended by some of the faculties from different universities.

 

The symposium aimed to highlight the most important historical collections and Islamic monuments from Iraq that are found in international museums, including the Pergamon Museum – Berlin, which has unique museum pieces.


This symposium was divided into three aspects. The first dealt with the definition of the Pergamon Museum and its global position within the international museums through a brief historical review of it. While the second aspect deals with a general review of the collection of Samarra city and an explanation of its types and the period that it represents in addition to its archaeological and artistic importance, and focus on stained wood in it.


While the third aspect is devoted to explaining and analyzing the artistic and aesthetic development of this group and its importance within the scope of museum assets in the Pergamon Museum – Berlin, in addition to explaining its main features.
