Samarra University Rector Receives Ministerial Committee Concerned with Mechanism for Implementing Law No. 37 for Preserving Paper Documents

Prof. Dr. Sabah Allawi Al-Samarrai, Rector of Samarra University, received members of the Ministerial Committee tasked with following up on the mechanism for preserving documents and records and the methods for their destruction, at his office on Sunday, November 30, 2025. The two parties discussed the methods for the destruction of documents in accordance with Law No. 37 of 2016, which is specific to documents intended for destruction, within the schedules of materials, the type of documents, the duration of their preservation, and their validity period, which ranges between two and ten years. For his part, Al-Samarrai explained that the University and its formations retain documents and records for previous years, in various types and classifications, especially those related to financial matters and student affairs. The meeting concluded with the committee members expressing their pleasure with the warm reception, in addition to the procedures followed at the University and its formations for preserving and electronically and physically archiving documents and records.
