University of Samarra Rector Announces Programmatic Accreditation for Landscape Architecture Program
In a new academic achievement added to the record of the University of Samarra, the Rector of the University announced the issuance of the ministerial order from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research – Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Apparatus, which includes granting the Bachelor’s program in the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering / College of Agriculture a conditional accreditation for two years, to complete the remaining national accreditation standards.
The University Rector emphasized that this decision represents an important step in the path of developing academic programs and enhancing the quality of education, noting that the university is proceeding with the implementation of its strategic plans aimed at elevating the scientific and research level in accordance with approved national standards.
He explained that obtaining accreditation did not come from a vacuum, but rather was the result of continuous efforts exerted by the deanship of the college, represented by Prof. Dr. Khalid Abdullah Sahar, the department Rectorship, and the faculty members, in preparing self-reports, updating curricula, improving the educational environment, and documenting scientific and research activities according to the requirements of the National Council for Accreditation of Agricultural College Programs.
He added that accreditation is an official recognition from the competent authority that the program meets the approved quality standards at the level of Iraq, and operates according to clear academic and organizational regulations, with a commitment to a developmental plan to complete the rest of the requirements within the specified period.
Conditional accreditation means that the academic program has achieved the majority of the required quality standards, but is obligated to complete some developmental aspects within a specific period of time (two years in this case). During this period, the college is subject to follow-up and evaluation to ensure the completion of all requirements, in preparation for obtaining full accreditation.
The University Rector pointed out that this achievement enhances the confidence of students and parents in the university\’s outcomes, grants the program greater academic strength, and contributes to increasing the opportunities of its graduates in the labor market, as they graduated from a program subject to official evaluation and quality standards.
In conclusion of his statement, the University Rector directed his thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and to the National Council for Accreditation of Agricultural College Programs. He also praised the collective efforts that contributed to achieving this accomplishment, calling for continued work in the spirit of one team to complete the requirements for final accreditation and achieve more successes.
