A Seminar at the College of Education for Pure Sciences Discusses Radiation Hazards in Nuclear Laboratories

 

The Department of Physics at the College of Education for Pure Sciences, Samarra University, organized a scientific seminar titled “Radiation Hazards and Protection Methods in Nuclear Laboratories.” The seminar was presented by Assist. Lect. Omar Farooq Fouad and Assist. Lect. Nawfal Abdulrahman Hammoud.

The presenters aimed to Define nuclear radiation and its various types, Explain the penetration power of radiation through living organisms, And Highlight the health impacts and potential damages resulting from exposure to different radiation doses.
Safety and Prevention Measures

During the session, Mr. Omar reviewed the most prominent procedures that must be followed within nuclear laboratories and surrounding areas. These measures are designed to ensure the safety of staff, students, and the public near such facilities, while clarifying approved preventive methods to minimize radiation exposure risks.

On the other hand, Mr. Nawfal explained the critical measures and immediate actions that should be taken in the event of a radiation leak. Such protocols contribute significantly to mitigating potential damage and preserving the safety of both individuals and the environment.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the lecturers recommended Enhancing awareness regarding radiation hazards within nuclear laboratories, And Strict adherence to radiological safety procedures to ensure a secure working environment.
