The University of Samarra inaugurated its first scientific conference on entrepreneurship under the theme “The University and Its Developmental Role in Light of Entrepreneurial Culture” on Monday, December 2, 2024, in the Al-Mu’tasim Hall.

The conference opened with a speech by the Presidency of the University of Samarra, delivered by Prof. Dr. Kamal Hussein Ahmed, Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, in the presence of the ministerial committee tasked with monitoring the university’s activities during Global Entrepreneurship Week.

The Scientific Assistant emphasized the university’s role in entrepreneurship and its support for innovative and entrepreneurial endeavors, particularly the outputs of its students across various colleges. He also highlighted the collaboration between the public and private sectors with students’ projects, which contribute to societal benefit and serve the greater public good.

In the same context, the conference featured research papers on entrepreneurship presented by some of the university’s faculty members. These papers explored risk strategies, the role of creativity and innovation in government institutions, and the marketing of scientific products.

From a practical perspective, the conference included:

  • A food product exhibition by the College of Education,
  • A scientific product exhibition by the College of Engineering,
  • Success stories from selected faculty members in the Colleges of Education and Applied Sciences.

Additionally, the College of Administration and Economics showcased a hackathon titled “Developing Greenhouses Using the Internet of Things.” The conference concluded with a seminar held by the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences on “Promoting Innovation and Supporting Entrepreneurship.”

It is worth noting that the conference coincided with the launch of Global Entrepreneurship Week, emphasized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which underlines the importance of activating the role of Iraqi universities in focusing on entrepreneurship.
