Raising Awareness About the Dangers of Social Media Addiction: The College of Arts Hosts an Educational Activity at a Local School
In an effort to raise awareness among female students about the dangers of social media addiction, the College of Arts at the University of Samarra organized an educational activity at a girls’ secondary school in the city. The event, titled “Raising Awareness About the Harms of Social Media Addiction,” involved several faculty members from the college’s departments, along with some of their students.
The organizers aimed to promote awareness among the students, highlight the academic role in addressing negative social phenomena, and reinforce community and humanitarian values—seeking to nurture a generation equipped with the tools to adapt and grow.
The activity included the distribution of informative brochures to both students and teaching staff, containing introductory information about social media platforms and educational content on the risks of addiction and ways to overcome it.
Additionally, faculty members delivered awareness lectures to the students, with the goal of enriching their understanding of responsible social media use and helping them avoid addiction.
This initiative is part of the university’s ongoing programs to broaden cooperation with various government institutions, contributing to the university’s role in raising public awareness and addressing societal issues.
