University of Samarra Participates in the Central Graduation Ceremony of Iraqi Universities at the Holy Abbasid Shrine
The University of Samarra participated with nearly 50 students from its various colleges in the central graduation ceremony for Iraqi universities, organized by the Holy Abbasid Shrine in Karbala. This marked the fifth edition of the event, titled the “Guided by the Moon” cohort.
Representing the University of Samarra was Professor Dr. Kamal Hussein Ahmed, Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, who attended the ceremony held on Thursday and Friday, April 10–11. The university delegation was led by Assistant Professor Dr. Saddam Hussein Saadi, accompanied by Dr. Maitham Mohammed Bakr from the College of Education, along with a media delegation from the university presidency.
The ceremony included a symbolic march between the shrines of Imams Hussein and Abbas (peace be upon them), and the recitation of the graduation oath:
“I swear by Almighty God to remain mindful of Him in my profession, to be a source of mercy, to serve my country, to sanctify human life, and to uphold human dignity.”
National slogans were also chanted, emphasizing the unity of the country in all its diversity and rejecting any plans to create division between sects.
Organizers honored the university representatives for accepting the invitation and contributing to the success of the ceremony.
The Assistant President for Scientific Affairs presented a university shield in appreciation to the Holy Abbasid Shrine for their efforts in organizing the event and their continued dedication to hosting universities and promoting unity within Iraqi society.
The ceremony concluded with remarks from the legal custodian of the Holy Abbasid Shrine, Sayyed Ahmed Al-Safi, who called on students to take responsibility in preserving the nation’s values and principles.
It is noteworthy that the ceremony included the participation of 64 Iraqi universities and over 5,000 students from various religions, sects, and ethnicities.
In turn, Al-Samarrai expressed his gratitude to the Minister for his continuous efforts in supporting Iraq’s academic journey, his attention to Iraqi universities, and his strong commitment to achieving global rankings.
