A scientific seminar on physical education and sports sciences discusses physiological markers in athletes
The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Samarra held a scientific seminar titled “Physiological Markers in Athletes,” presented by Dr. Saif Rasheed Ghanem and Assistant Lecturer Ammar Faris Atiyah.
Dr. Rasheed provided an explanation of the physiological characteristics of athletes resulting from exercise, which impact respiratory rates, heartbeats, and various metabolic processes. He added that these exercises stimulate the sympathetic nervous system, leading to an integrated bodily response.
Faris continued by elaborating on the body’s homeostatic response, which ensures internal balance suitable for the increased demands of physical, metabolic, respiratory, and cardiovascular efforts. He highlighted how this poses challenges to many physiological systems that must adapt to maintain the body’s internal equilibrium.
The presenters recommended avoiding exercise levels that exceed the recommended intensity and strength of workouts. For instance, when walking in a steeply inclined area, individuals should slow down while climbing to avoid exerting excessive effort. They also advised taking environmental conditions, such as high or low temperatures, into consideration.
