A faculty member at the University of Samarra earns a PhD with distinction from the College of Agriculture in Tikrit

Assistant Lecturer Younis Walid Younis, a faculty member at the College of Applied Sciences at the University of Samarra, has earned a PhD in Agricultural Engineering with distinction from the College of Agriculture at the University of Tikrit. His dissertation, titled “The Relationship of Genetic Variants of the POU1F1 and B-LG Genes with Productive and Reproductive Performance in Local and Cypriot Goats,” explored key genetic relationships.

The researcher aimed to uncover differences in genetic traits of the POU1F1 and B-LG genes by employing advanced molecular biotechnology techniques, most notably the PCR-SSCP and Sequencing methods, to detect genetic variations in the studied genomic region.

The study concluded that there are single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in both genes, with these variations showing significant effects on daily milk production, the length of the lactation season, birth weight, and body dimensions.

The Media and Government Communication Department at the University of Samarra extends its congratulations to the researcher on his academic achievement, wishing him continued success in his academic career.
