A Faculty Member at the University of Samarra Receives Distinction for Her Dissertation at the University of Tikrit

The doctoral dissertation of Assistant Professor Athraa Hamid Jassim, a faculty member at the College of Education at the University of Samarra, received a distinction from the College of Education for Women at the University of Tikrit.

The dissertation was titled: “Immunological and Physiological Variables in Cattle Infected with Blood-Borne Protozoa Transmitted by Ticks and Horseflies in the City of Samarra.”

The researcher aimed to investigate the prevalence of horseflies and ticks parasitizing cattle, their role in transmitting protozoa in the city of Samarra and surrounding areas, and some immunological and physiological changes associated with the infections.

The findings revealed a highly significant difference in the immunoglobulin IgM level, which reached 54 compared to the healthy cattle group. Additionally, significant differences were observed in the CD8 and CD4 surface markers and the MHCII histocompatibility complex. The study also identified two species of hard ticks prevalent in Samarra and its neighboring regions.

The Department of Media and Government Communication, on behalf of the University of Samarra’s faculty, congratulates the researcher, Athraa Hamid Jassim, on obtaining this distinguished academic degree, wishing her continued success in her academic journey.
